Prom season is coming up fast, and for a lot of students, the most stressful part isn’t the pictures or dinner plans, it’s finding the dress. With so many styles, trends, and price points, prom dress shopping can get overwhelming really quickly. Some people are trying to stay on a budget, others want something more high-end, and some just want a place that has a lot of options to choose from. But don’t worry, there are plenty of places to shop, both online and in person, that make finding a prom dress a little less stressful.
For students who want something affordable, online shopping is usually the first place they look. Stores like Lucy in the Sky, Lulus, and Princess Polly have a lot of prom-style dresses that don’t cost a ridiculous amount of money. These sites are perfect for finding affordable, trendy dresses with popular cuts, fun fabrics, and fast shipping. A lot of the dresses don’t feel like one-time prom dresses either, so you can actually wear them again after prom.

If you’re willing to spend a little more, there are also higher-end online brands that offer dresses that feel more structured and elevated. House of CB is especially popular for its corset-style dresses and super flattering fits, which make it a common choice for prom. Oh, Polly is another popular option for students who want something more glam or body-hugging, while For Love and Lemons offers more romantic and unique styles with lace and detailed designs. These dresses are definitely more expensive, but for some people, it’s worth it to have a dress that really stands out.

One of my personal favorite places to look for a prom dress is Revolve because it kind of has everything. Instead of going through a bunch of different websites, you can find multiple brands, styles, and price points all in one place. Revolve has dresses that are simple, trendy, bold, or more classic, which makes it a good option if you’re not totally sure what style you want yet. It also makes comparing dresses a lot easier and less time-consuming.

Even though online shopping is super popular, a lot of students still prefer shopping in person so they can actually try dresses on before buying them. Dillard’s is a really good in-person option because it’s more budget-friendly than people expect and has a huge selection of dresses in different styles, colors, and sizes. Stores like Windsor also offer trendy and affordable prom dresses, especially for students who want something more modern. Local stores like Kotsovos are another great option because they give more personalized help and often carry dresses you won’t see on everyone else.
At the end of the day, there’s no single right place to get a prom dress. Whether you shop online, in person, or both, the most important thing is finding something that makes you feel confident and excited for prom night.
