Snow days are always the most exciting day of the year because they are always unexpected. No one checks the weather forecast all year, then the night before the day of a possible snow day, all of a sudden, everyone turns into a meteorologist and studies the weather like it is the Olympics.
There is a website called snow day calculator, which has gotten very popular throughout the past few years, as it gives you the percent chance you have of getting the day off based on your area code, as well as several other factors, such as your school being public or private.
The reason snow days are so important is that people love getting an extra day off from school, and especially the feeling they get when they find out school is canceled. Although it is rare, there are people who do not like snow days at all because they feel behind in their work.
While there are a few doubters, overall, snow days give people a chance to be a kid again. According to senior Greg Richardson, his favorite activity “would probably [be] snow angels.” On the other hand, freshman Michael Moksin said his favorite part was hanging out with friends.

Another controversial topic regarding snow days and the wintertime in general is do people like sledding or skiing more? Richardson and Moksin both said that they prefer to ski over sledding. After heading down the slopes, both enjoy a hot chocolate on those snowy days.
Snow days provide Seven Hills students with an excitement that can’t be overstated. When the snow day is called the night before, Moksin starts preparing: “I feel very excited and immediately start planning for the day for what I am going to do.” While Richardson also feels excited, he mostly feels relieved because he does not have to do the work of school. Neither interviewee stated that they do not use the day off to catch up on missing work.
Whether you play in the snow on a snow day like Moksin or warm up with hot chocolate like Richardson, snow days give Seven Hills students a chance to sit back, relax, and enjoy a day without so much activity. Students love snow days, and it is a huge part of the wintertime because kids love the extra rest as well as the overall vibe around it.
