The Seven Hills Upper School is located in the tri-area of Madisonville, Kennedy Heights, and Oakley and is home to about 371 high schoolers. For students, places to grab a bite to eat can be just as important as their classes. Between early morning classes and after-school activities, food spots serve as essential breaks in the day offering energy needed to recharge, whether it’s a quick bite during a free bell or a spot to relax with friends after a long day of school. Here are four spots that you can check out, categorized by their strengths:
- Element Eatery: Comfortability and Variety
Element Eatery is located at 5350 Medpace Way, which is about two minutes from the school. The location is known for It’s diverse menu and maby restaurant options. They have many places that serve plant-based options which can be good if you are vegan, and they serve food from many different cultures around the world all in one spot. While Element Eatery has these amazing qualities, it can be very expensive and does not fit everyone’s budget. To go along with their variety, they have very comfortable seating with big soft couches and nice leather chairs that are good for lounging, and even going to get work done if needed. I asked Seven Hills librarian Gail Bloom if she liked the variety that they provide. Bloom said, “Yes, but it can be pretty expensive.”
- Canes: The Quick Grab-and-Go
Canes is one of the known favorites at Seven Hills. It is located at 3315 Ibsen Avenue, which is about five minutes from school. They have consistent food quality and never will serve you any cold, unfresh food. Whether you go inside or to the drive-thru, they will get your food to you quickly, and it will almost always come out fresh. They have quick service and a super simple menu that doesn’t cost much, which is why it is a good spot to go and get a quick meal before heading back to class. Senior Nikhil Reddy said, “One of the great things about Cane’s is that It’s fresh.”
- Subway: Affordable
Subway, located at 5301 Ridge Avenue, is a great option for a quick affordable meal that does not compromise on quality or variety. They have a wide selection of fresh ingredients, and they allow people to customize their sandwiches, which makes it easy to create a meal that suits your taste. Plus the prices are budget-friendly, making it very convenient for people looking for a good meal without breaking the bank. Whether you’re ordering a sub or the foot-long cookie, they offer a tasty, cost-effective solution for busy days.
- Tropical Smoothie Cafe: Healthy
Tropical Smoothie is a great choice for anyone looking for healthy and delicious options. With a wide variety of smoothies made with fresh ingredients, it’s easy to find something fit for a good diet. Outside of smoothies, they offer wraps, sandwiches, and bowls that include veggies and protein. No matter if you are craving something light or a more filling meal, Tropical provides flavorful options that are both healthy and pleasing, ensuring to get you the nutrients you need in your body to refill any energy lost through the day. “Tropical is a really great spot for before games; I’ve been there a lot with my teammates and it’s been great for team bonding,” senior athlete Annie Katuska said. “It’s a reliable, healthy option and is great for student-athletes to get some fuel quickly before events.”
To recap, there are many great food options around the Seven Hills campus.
Element Eatery is expensive, but the best for comfort and variety.
Canes is limited in options, but the best for a quick grab-and-go.
Subway is lower quality, but the best for affordability.
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is less filling, but the best healthy option.
